David Beckham was dealt a blow when a court decided to throw out his £15.5 million libel claim against a US magazine which printed a false story last month.
But this week the footballer formally lodged an appeal to overturn this decision.
He is attempting to sue In Touch magazine, which published an article claiming the footballer cheated on wife Victoria with a prostitute in 2007.
The 32-year-old immediately commenced with legal action but his plans were quashed when a judge dismissed his case.
He said the star's lawyers failed to prove that the publisher acted with 'malice', meaning that it was in line with the US constitutional right of 'free speech'.
