Four months after he took on the role, Jason Manford has quit as co-presenter of The One Show.
His decision follows allegations he shared internet messages of a sexual nature with female fans.
In a statement, Jason said: "I have decided after careful consideration to step down from The One Show to concentrate on my family and tour commitments."
Two weeks ago, the comedian was forced to issue an apology after it emerged he had exchanged racy tweets with 22-year-old Debra McNamee.
Speaking about his reasons for leaving, the married star told the Sun: "There were ten or 12 people flirting and then with a few it went over the line.
"We would start off flirty, then innuendo, and then a bit saucy. There were moments I thought, 'I shouldn't be saying that'."
Jason, 29, currently lives in Stockport with his wife Catherine, who is expecting their third child in three weeks. The couple are already parents to twin girls.
She has decided to stand by him.
"My wife texted me today to say, 'Me and you are fine, we are dealing with it'," Jason – pictured with One Show co-host Alex Jones - revealed.
Bosses for the show are expected to hold talks to find a replacement at the weekend. Jason was due to present again on Monday.
In response, a spokesman for the BBC said: "We have got nothing to say except that we accept Jason's decision."
