Students enrolling at Newcastle Uni this year will have a princess in their midst following news that Eugenie has chosen to do a three year degree course there.
Come September, the 19-year-old royal – the younger daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew – will start studying for a joint BA in English and History of Art in the north east of England.
It is not yet known whether she will live in the halls of residence at the academic establishment, but last week the young royal spent time looking round the campus, including the accommodation on offer.
"She chose Newcastle because it offered a great degree course and it seems a really fun place to go," a friend of the princess' has said.
It is also believed that many of Eugenie's friends will also be going to Newcastle, which numbers Rowan Atkinson, Brian Ferry and Kate Adie among its alumni.
The Queen's granddaughter, who has spent much her gap year travelling since finishing studying at Marlborough College last year, achieved 2 A grades in English literature and Art, and a B in History of Art for her A-level results.
