Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has begun a 90-day prison sentence for violating her probation.
The 24-year-old actress was handcuffed and sent to a facility in the south of the city after making an appearance in court.
She is not expected to stay there for the full sentence, however.
"I don't know exactly how long the jail will keep her. I can only impose the sentence," said the judge.
Officials have pointed out that the sentence could be reduced to just three weeks for good behaviour and also due to prison overcrowding.
She will spend her term in a small cell in the Century Regional Detention Facility, an all-women prison which houses around 2,200 inmates.
Mobile phones and computers aren't allowed and jewellery isn't permitted either.
Lindsay must also don a standard orange jumpsuit.
