She's enjoyed huge success in Hollywood and has become Australia's most famous actress.
But having children didn't come as easily to Nicole Kidman.
The Oscar winner opened up to Australia's 60 Minutes about her "rollercoaster ride with fertility" this week.
"Anyone that’s been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, pain and the loss that you go through," she said candidly.
The 43-year-old added: "Fertility is such a big thing and it's not something I've ever run away from talking about."
Nicole adopted two children during her ten-year marriage to Tom Cruise and gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose in 2008, her first child with husband Keith Urban.
The couple turned to surrogacy to have their second longed-for daughter.
She said: "This opportunity arose for us, and I couldn't get pregnant."
The actress added: "Children are children - you'll die for your children.
"And when you feel that as a parent - that's the unconditional love."
