The globetrotting Obama girls had a rare treat this week when they met living legend Nelson Mandela.
Now retired from public life, the anti-Apartheid hero spent 20 minutes with the girls, their mother Michelle and grandmother Marian on their tour of Africa.
His wife, Graça Machel, who is a former first lady of Mozambique, was also present.
He signed a copy of his latest book Nelson Mandela By Himself for the family.
The Obamas were viewing Mr Mandela's personal papers at his foundation headquarters when he asked them to drop by his home in a leafy Johannesburg suburb.
While it was the first lady's first encounter with him, her husband Barack met the father of the Rainbow Nation during his visit to Africa in 2006.
