Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is showing the world she's a woman of her word.
Last month, in her role as a Global Fund ambassador, France's First Lady renewed her vow to eliminate the transmission of HIV from mothers to their children by 2015.
And this week she took a big step step with a two-day trip to Benin - Africa's most heavily affected country.
Pictured meeting and greeting patients at the Auberge de l'Amour Redempteur hospital, she was joined on the trip by Melinda Gates, who is representing her husband Bill's foundation.
The House of the Redeeming Love hospital specialises in programmes to help protect against transmission of HIV from mother to infant.
"United we can fight against these pandemic diseases," Carla says.
During her two days trip, Carla also met up with Benin president, Thomas Yayi Boni.
