Funnyman Will Ferrell has announced he'll be stepping back behind the desk as swashbuckling newscaster Ron Burgundy in an Anchorman sequel.
The US actor made a surprise appearance on a talk show, in character as the movie's protagonist to announce the film.
"I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey, and the UK, including England, that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman," he told the audience.
"It's official, there will be a sequel to Anchorman," he added, before leaving the stage.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, starring Will as a 1970s San Diego broadcaster, grossed $91 million worldwide at the box office following its release in 2004 and a sequel has long been in the pipeline.
