It seems that Canadian-raised Kim Cattrall has a lot in common with fellow thespian Kevin Spacey. Both have a history of successfully acting in front of the camera, yet both have returned to their theatrical roots.

The Sex And The City star is wrapping up a stint as a Fifties housewife in Dave Mamet’s Cryptogram in London's West End. And she took time out to join Kevin and a host of stars, including Elton John and Elle Macpherson, at a fundraising lunch to benefit the Old Vic theatre, where Kevin has been artistic director since 2004.

The charming theatre holds a special place in the heart of Oscar winner Kevin, as it was here that he trod the boards in a critically aclaimed production of The Iceman Cometh. "My parents brought me there first when I was five," he said. "It made a big impact on me."

Kim is equally passionate about the traditional medium, having studied theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art when she was 11 years old. "I love doing stage," the actress reveals. "I always feel a bit mournful when it's all over."

It looks like she could soon be back in front of the cameras, though. HBO studios are currently in negotiations with Kim and her Sex And The City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon to take the hit show, which ended its six-year run in 2004, to the big screen.
