Her latest release is already a hit, having broken iTunes pre-record sales.
"This album is about a woman who’s been hurt, who's trying to get through it and who is living every day with her own disappointment as well as her success" a friend recently told Grazia.
And the lyrics certainly seem to reference the demise of their eight-year marriage.
On a track titled in Madonna's inimitable style I Don't Give A, she sings: "I tried to be a good girl, I tried to be your wife, diminished myself, and I swallowed my light."

Criticism over the risqué video for MDNA's second single, Girl Gone Wild was waved off in Madonna's typically irreverent fashion: "I'm supposed to be a girl gone wild in the video! How could you go wild and not grind?" she quipped.
