In a brave move, New-York-born Jennifer recently opened up to USA Today about how she found solace in her Parker character during her divorce from Marc Anthony.
"When [Taylor Hackford] first called me, I wasn't thinking about divorce at all" she said. "Suddenly it happened and my whole world fell apart and then I had this therapy of this character."
Jennifer added: "When I did the movie, I had just decided to get divorced myself. I felt in that low place. It was the worst time in my life as well."
The Jenny-from-the-block singer was joined by co-stars Jason Statham and Patti Du Pone as well as the film's director Taylor Hackford. California-born Taylor is the cinematic mastermind behind such films as Ray and When We Were Kings and is also married to British actress Helen Mirren.
His latest blockbuster is a crime thriller adapted from Donald Westlake's novels of the same name, in which Jennifer stars as real estate agent Leslie Rogers who becomes embroiled with Jason's character, professional thief Parker.
The film marks Jennifer's 35th screen credit, 27 years after her first role as Myra in 1986 movie My Little Girl. Since then she has starred alongside several of Hollywood's big names in titles such as The Wedding Planner, Monster-in-Law and What to Expect When You're Expecting.
Jennifer flew solo at the premiere, unaccompanied by boyfriend Casper Smart who was by her side at the Golden Globes earlier this month. The pair, who hit it off shortly after Jennifer split from husband Marc, proved their strength as a couple when 25-year-old Casper ran into three of Jennifer’s exes at the LA awards.
The dancer overcame any awkwardness by warmly greeting and shaking hands with rapper Diddy, whom Jennifer dated back in 1999.
As well as he film role, Jennifer has also enjoyed support from Casper: "He's fantastic;" she sai in a recent interview "He's like my best friend. I can tell him everything, when I'm feeling down, when I'm feeling good. He gives moral support, endless love and support."
Snatch actor Jason was joined by his girlfriend and model Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley. The British pair, who have been dating for a couple of years, both sported stylish black jackets to protect against the chilly weather.
The premiere also attracted celebrity guests Nicky Hilton, Carson Kressley and rapper 50 Cent.
Parker is due for general release from Thursday.
