Glee star Cory Monteith has checked into rehab. The actor, who appears as Finn Hudson on the hit musical series, has "voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his representative confirmed to People. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery. "Cory is being supported by his girlfriend, and co-star, Lea Michele. The couple took their romance public in April of last year and were most recently seen together at a Los Angeles Kings ice hockey game on 23 March. "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she told People. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision."

It is not the first time that Cory, 30, has struggled with addiction; he has spoken openly in the past about his battle with substance abuse, and in 2011 admitted he has entered rehab when he was 19.Speaking at the time, the Canadian star said he hoped his honesty would help others. "I don't want kids to think it's ok to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors too," he said. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go for it."
