Peter Andre has revealed his joy at the prospect of becoming a father again.
The Australian singer is said to be “absolutely thrilled” to be expecting his first child with 23-year-old girlfriend, Emily MacDonagh, early next year.
“We were going to keep this to ourselves a little bit longer, but as everyone’s been asking, I am very happy to tell you that Emily and I are having a baby, and we are over the moon,” Peter confirmed in his column for new! magazine.
“Emily will make a brilliant mum,' he added.
Speculation that medical student Emily was pregnant started when Pete, 40, was seen placing his hand on her stomach at an event in June.
The couple, who have been together for just over a year, met through Emily’s father - a surgeon who operated on Peter in 2010.
"Peter became very close to him and his family and his relationship with Emily developed from there."
“They absolutely adore each other, so having a baby together feels completely natural,” a source said.
Friends close to the couple say the pair are convinced they will spend the rest of their lives together and plan to get married next year.
“They’re thrilled to bits. They’re completely smitten,” a spokesman reported.
Emily is said to have attended a check-up last week and “all went well.”
The baby will be Peter’s third child — he has two children, son Junior and daughter Princess, with ex-wife and glamour model Katie Price.
The Mysterious Girl singer has made no secret of his wish to have a big family.
“I always wanted to have six because I’m one of six, but I reckon if I had another two I’d be happy,' he said in a recent interview.
Even so, in just May this year, Pete denied the couple were thinking about children yet.
‘It’s too early for that sort of talk! Emily’s still got a year to go at uni, but you never know what’s going to happen, do you? We sort of reserve those conversations at the moment!’ he said at the time.
