"It was very sweet of him," Nicole told The Sun, in reference to a number of Tweets Lewis had posted online, but added "the truth is we are no longer together. It is over."
"I know he's been very public about trying to get me back, but we're still not together."
Lewis sparked speculation that the pair had reunited a month ago when he dedicated his winning trophy at the Hungarian Grand Prix to Nicole, but it later emerged this was just an attempt to reach out to his former girlfriend of five years.
"If you've found that special someone, don't ever EVER let them go no matter what!!" Lewis later tweeted. "Nothing in this world is more important."
It seems that Lewis' pleas to Nicole have not had the desired effect and the former Pussycat Doll has no desire to restart the relationship following the couple's breakup in June.
Nicole and Lewis split just days after the racing driver hinted that he was planning to propose, citing their busy work schedules and the fact that they reside in different countries as causing them to go their separate ways.
