Paul Walker wanted 'more time with daughter Meadow'
03 DECEMBER 2013Paul Walker had considered taking time out from acting to spend more time with his teenage daughter Meadow, the late actor's father Paul Walker Sr has revealed.
The Fast & Furious star, who died in a car crash on Saturday, lived with his 15-year-old daughter in California. Meadow had recently moved from her mother's home in Hawaii to be closer to her father.
Speaking in an emotional interview with CBS Los Angeles, Paul Walker Sr spoke about his son's relationship with Meadow.
"I want to take a hiatus," Paul Walker Sr quoted his son as saying. "She's just 15 and I don't have much more time to be with her. And then boom, he got another movie. He would say, 'I don't know what to do.'"
The Hollywood star had remained on good terms with Meadow's mother, his former girlfriend Rebecca McBrain, whom he dated in 1998. The couple welcomed their only child later that year.
Meadow is said to still be in shock over her father's sudden and tragic death and is leaning on her mother and friends for support.
"Friends have flown in to be with her," an insider told E! News. "She is in okay spirits and dealing with it the best she can for a 15 year old. She is surrounded by family and friends and they are trying comfort her and help her get through this."
At the time of her father's death, Meadow was attending the same charity event and was kept away from the horrific scene as emergency services fought to save Paul and his friend Roger Rodas, who was driving the car and also died on impact.
"The saddest part was watching Paul Walker's daughter break down," the actor's friend Jim Torp said. "They kept his daughter off to the side, so she wouldn't know what was going on until they really knew what had happened."
Paul and his co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Paul's Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has also spoken about how he bonded with the late actor over fatherhood.
"He was motivated by work that allowed him to take care of his family, number one," said Dwayne. "The most important thing that we had in common was the importance of family time and being a great father to our daughters. We bonded over that."
"Not surprisingly, when I got the news that he had passed away, the first words out of my mouth were, 'He has a daughter,'" said Dwayne. "It's very sad."
