Katie Hopkins breaks her silence on Peaches Geldof

has finally broken her silence.
The controversial columnist was slammed by countless followers on Twitter for not tweeting her condolences after news of

, Katie claimed that Peaches would not have wanted a tweet from her.
Katie: "Peaches would not have wanted a tweet from me"
"Peaches and I met once on a TV sofa in central London. We were strangers and remained adversaries. Peaches didn't want a tweet from me," she wrote.
"She didn't welcome it in life. She certainly didn't need it in death. She was tough enough not to seek approval from anyone. I admire that trait in others."
The mum-of-three went on to describe Peaches' death at such a young age as "shocking" and called for people to leave her family in peace to grieve.
Katie and Peaches clashed about their methods of parenting
Katie being Katie, her article wasn't without controversy. She hit out at celebrities including Gok Wan and Myleene Klass, for "rushing to out do each other in public displays of distress" on Twitter.
"I refused to be part of this revolting spectacle," she wrote.
Katie was due to appear on Keith Lemon's
this week — but informed followers through a retweet that she has been bumped until September in light of Peaches' death.
The pair famously
clashed during an appearance on This Morning
to debate the topic of attachment parenting, and show bosses were apparently worried about fan reaction if Katie's appearance went ahead.
While Katie herself didn't comment on the decision, she did retweet a number of messages from her followers, including, "@KTHopkins isn't allowed on Celeb juice because she had a disagreement with Peaches? A bit far! This world is too scared of offending."
Another read, "So it's because of Peaches death that @KTHopkins on celebrity juice is positioned? Ridiculous!"
In reply to one Twitter user, Katie wrote, "I sincerely apologise to you all. I couldn't have put it better myself."
