Christian Slater was born in New York City to Michael Hawkins, a soap actor, and casting agent Mary Jo Slater. He had an early start in show business, starring in the soap opera The Edge of Night when he was just seven-years-old.
Throughout the early 1980s, Christian appeared in several Broadway productions, before making his silver screen debut in the 1985 film, The Legend of Billie Jean. After moving to LA to concentrate on his acting career, Christian was cast in cult classic Heathers, alongside Winona Ryder - a role that led to offers to play more rebellious teens in films including Pump Up The Volume and Young Guns II.
In 1991, he was cast as Will Scarlett in the blockbuster film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and became one of Hollywood's hottest stars. He went on to appear in other big budget productions like Interview With The Vampire, True Romance and Broken Arrow, and over the course of his career has worked alongside film heavyweights including Kevin Costner, Morgan Feeman, John Travolta and Brad Pitt.
Christian has two children, Jaden and Eliana, from his first marriage to journalist Ryan Haddon. The pair tied the knot in 2000 but eventually finalised their divorce in 2007.
In December, 2013, Christian married his girlfriend of three years, Brittany Lopez, in an impromptu ceremony at the Coral Gables District Court.
