Katherine Jenkins has revealed that she would like to start a family, following her recent wedding to American film director Andrew Levitas.

The Welsh lyric mezzo-soprano, 34, made the revelation to HELLO! magazine during an exclusive photoshoot at Margam Country Park in south Wales – just a stone's throw away from where she grew up.

"I can't wait to have kids," said Katherine. "I can't wait for us to become a family if and when – God willing – that happens."

The Home Sweet Home singer will be touring the UK in February and March of next year, followed by a few stops in Germany, South Africa and Asia among other places.

Katherine added that if she does have children, however, she till take time out.

"I don't want to be dragging my children around on aeroplanes," she said. "I know it works for some people, but it's just a personal thing for me. I want to be at home, I want to be there. I'd love my kids to have a really happy, secure childhood because it's so important."

The blonde beauty, who tied the knot in a romantic Hampton Court Palace ceremony in late September, also opened up about becoming Mrs Levitas.

Marriage has been "the best thing ever," she said, and while it was her shepherd's pie that had Andrew hooked, her new husband takes control of the kitchen.

"He's a way better cook than me," said Katherine. "I think I'm a good wife because I'm loving, supportive and very romantic and because I absolutely love being married to him."

While Katherine and Andrew, 37, ensured that their marriage was a truly private occasion, the star couple released a couple of photos from their day, much to their fans' excitement.

In the official snaps, Katherine is pictured wearing a traditional white wedding gown that fell to the floor, complete with a sweeping veil. The bride styled her hair into an elegant up'do and accessorised with a simple pair of pearl drop earrings.

The couple had been given permission from Buckingham Palace to fly the Welsh flag at their wedding venue. Guests were also treated to a wedding breakfast full of Welsh produce, including Welsh cheeses, black beef and lamb.
