Selena Gomez becomes a big sister to baby girl

Selena Gomez has become a big sister for the first time as her mum Mandy gave birth to a baby daughter on Thursday. The pop star, 20, is very close to her mum Mandy Teefey and her stepdad Brian, and will be over the moon at the new bundle of joy, which was born at a hospital in Los Angeles. Although she hasn't shared the news on social media sites as yet, X Factor judge Demi Lovato has shared her friend's excitement, tweeting: "@selenagomez IS A BIG SISTER !!!!!! #CONGRATSELENA!!!!"

The Spring Breakers starlet showed her overjoy at her mum becoming pregnant when she shared the news with her fans on Twitter on Mother's Day. "Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news...My mommy's carrying my baby brother or sister :) I'm the happiest girl in the world!" wrote the singer, accompanying the caption with a picture of mother and daughter, the former showing off a blossoming tummy.The birth of Mandy and her husband Brian Teefey's first child is especially joyful as Mandy miscarried during her last pregnancy in December 2011.

Selena, who shares a very strong bond with her mum, then cancelled her scheduled concerts in Chicago and Seattle to fly home to be with her and her stepdad.

Selena has spoken of her admiration for her mum, who raised her as a single working mother. "She was really strong around me. Having me at 16 had to have been a big responsibility. My mom gave up everything for me, had three jobs, supported me sacrificed her life for me.
