Angelina Jolie took the opportunity to sample some local delicacies during her visit to Cambodia. The By the Sea actress and her daughter Shiloh happily tucked into tarantulas and scorpions as part of an in-depth interview with BBC World News to promote Angelina's new film First They Killed My Father, which she directed. After opening up about her divorce from Brad Pitt, the actress taught the BBC reporter about local cuisine and how to prepare some of the bugs that are eaten in the country. The clip, posted to the BBC News website, shows Angelina surrounded by her children as she demonstrates how to remove the fangs from a tarantula ready to eat.

"See the hard part where you have the teeth? Take the fangs out," she explained. "I think it's always been a part of the diet, the bugs, but then I think there is a truth to the survival during the war of course. When people were being starved they were able to survive on things like this and they did."

Angelina also revealed that she had first sampled the bugs on her first visit to Cambodia. "Crickets, you start with crickets and a beer and then you kind of move up to tarantulas," she told reporter Yalda Hakim. The 41-year-old appeared confident preparing the bugs before cooking them in a frying pan while her children watched on. "You want to share a spider?" she asked Shiloh, who joined her mum in tucking into a tarantula. "It's actually really good the flavour," Angelina mused, before saying that the scorpions tasted "like tasteless chips".

Angelina appeared confident in preparing and eating the local delicacies

The clip was part of Angelina's interview with BBC World News, where she spoke publicly about her split from Brad Pitt for the first time. The mother-of-six became visibly upset when she was asked about the "incident", and confirmed it had been a "difficult" time for her family. "I don't want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time and…. And we are a family, and we will always be a family. And we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it," she said.
