Prince Rainier made his first public appearance since being released from hospital last week, honouring the winners at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. The 78-year-old monarch, who had been hospitalised on May 15 after suffering general fatigue, stood alongside his children, Prince Albert and Princess Caroline, for the awards ceremony that wrapped up the prestigious high-speed event.

Also drawing attention from the cameras was his granddaughter, 15-year-old Charlotte Casiraghi, outfitted in white like her mother Princess Caroline. Charlotte and her brother, 18-year-old Andrea, sporting a dark suit and tie, were spotted mingling with friends in a special VIP section of the venue, watching as British Formula One racer David Coulthard took first place.

Michael Schumacher, winner of the Sportsman of the Year award at Monte Carlo’s recent Laureus World Sports Awards, finished second, and his brother Ralf Schumacher, took third place.

Next up for Rainier, who has delegated his official duties abroad to his son Albert, are his 79th birthday celebrations on May 31.
