Prince Harry's anxious wait for his A-level grades finally came to an end when he, along with hundreds of thousands of other British students, received his results on Thursday. St James's Palace has revealed that the 18-year-old, who is planning to apply to Sandhurst military college, got a B in art and a D in geography.

"I am very proud of Harry," said his father Prince Charles. "He has worked hard for these examinations and I am very pleased with today's results."

The young Prince had originally intended to take three subjects in the examinations, but he dropped history of art after his AS exams last year. He will spend a gap year travelling and working before beginning his military training.

"By achieving two A-Level passes, Prince Harry is able to continue pursuing his wish for a future career in the Army," said a St James's Palace spokesman.

"Prince Harry distinguished himself at Eton in the school's combined cadet corps and was promoted to the highest rank of cadet officer in May 2003. In the same month, he led a detachment of 48 cadets as parade commander in the Eton Tattoo."
