Kate Middleton to attend annual Scout Review at Windsor Castle

Kate Middleton clearly enjoyed her recent day out with the Scouts because she will meet with them again at the end of the month. On 21 April, the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge will attend the National Review of Queen's Scouts at Windsor Castle. Afterwards, Kate will join a service at St George's Chapel and have birthday tea with the Queen, who marks her 87th birthday that day. The Scout Association provides common ground for both royal ladies. The Queen is patron of the organisation and meets high-achieving youngsters at Windsor Castle each year.

Meanwhile, Kate volunteers at a local Scout group near her and Prince William's home on the Isle of Anglesey. She also recently joined a Scout group for a fun-filled day in the Lake District, where the mum-to-be braved icy conditions to cook bread over an open fire and take part in outdoor activities. Kate will be able to draw on those personal experiences when she meets young people from across the UK who have achieved the Queen's Scout Award. To earn the accolade, they need to have completed a range of activities including country expeditions and community building.

During her day as a hands-on Scout, Kate proved a dab hand at many of the skills the youngsters will be rewarded for. When she cooked traditional unleavened bread on an open fire, the instructor described her attempt as "brilliant".

Volunteers in the group congratulated her on her efforts as she urged them to try some of her 'twister' bread. She then tried some herself before joking, "Oh it's actually not bad…If you were desperately hungry."
