Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has been released from hospital and is said to be recovering at home following surgery for a brain haemorrhage last week. Doctors expect no further complications and have given the 43-year-old beauty a clean bill of health.

“Sharon Stone is completely intact neurologically and she will have no medical reservations on her personal or professional activities,” said Michael Lawton, chief of cerebrovascular surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

“I would like to thank my fans for their love and support and the miraculous power of prayer,” says the Basic Instinct star. “I am forever grateful.”

The one-time Oscar nominee was rushed to hospital on September 29 complaining of a severe headache. Doctors had originally suspected a tiny aneurysm but two subsequent angiograms revealed that was not the case.

Sharon was treated for a subarachnoid haemorrhage – bleeding on the space between the brain and the middle membrane covering it – a condition which proves fatal for two-thirds of victims. The corrective procedure, known as a coil embolization, blocks the flow of blood through the artery to eliminate any further risk, explained Lawton.

Unfortunately this is not the couple’s first spell in hospital this year. In June, Sharon’s husband Phil Bronstein – who was by her side throughout this latest ordeal – was under doctor’s care after being attacked by a rare Komodo dragon during a visit to a Los Angeles zoo. The seven-foot reptile severed a tendon in his foot.
