18 MAY 2014
Happy birthday Tina Fey! As the funny lady of the small and big screen celebrates her 44th birthday, HELLO! Online takes a look at what the stars have in store for Taurian Tina, and you.
The molehill is absent one day, present the next. Not so, the mountain. The mountain is hard to climb. Not so the molehill. I'm really not trying to insult your intelligence. I'm just pointing out that somewhere in your world, something small is being perceived as if it were something big. What lies behind this leap of the imagination? An emotional trigger. Only a deep, profound feeling can intoxicate the brain to the point where it confuses signals that are distinct and different. Soon you'll get some much-needed perspective.
Funny lady Tina Fey is famous for her work on Saturday Night Live and television show 30 Rock but the 44 year-old broke into comedy through improv group The Second City, in Chicago, known as the first ever on-going improvisational theatre troupe in the United States.
She sent several scripts to Saturday Night Live and was eventually hired as a writer, before she worked her way up to become the first female head writer in 1999.
In 2000 she began performing in the sketches herself, and in 2002 won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program.
For several years Tina worked on a script for a pilot show based on a news network. The situational comedy 30 Rock was eventually picked up and aired in 2006. Starring Tina, Alec Baldwin and Jane Krakowski, the show ran for seven season before ending in 2013.
Throughout her time on the small screen, Tina also worked on the big screen, and her first major hit was the 2004 cult comedy Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan. In 2008 Tina starred in Baby Mama, which she had co-written with her former Saturday Night Live co-star Amy Poehler, before going on to star alongside Steve Carell in Date Night in 2010, and the 2013 comedy Admission.
Tina and Amy were asked to co-host the 2013 Golden Globes Awards and the venture was hugely successful, and lead to the pair hosting the show in 2014 as well.
